How It Works

1

Describe Your Sales Interview Details

Share the sales role you're interviewing for, SDR, AE, enterprise, or leadership, the more context, the more realistic the roleplay.

I have a interview next Wednesday for a B2B sales role at a software company. I've spent the last 3 years in customer success, I manage accounts, handle renewals, and deal with clients every day. But I've never had a formal sales title, so I'm nervous they'll just see me as someone who's never actually sold anything.

Who are you meeting with, recruiter, hiring manager, or someone else?
It's with the hiring manager directly.

In your customer success role, do you know roughly what the contract values looked like?

ROLEPLAY

You've been an SDR for two years. Every AE we've hired has come in with full-cycle experience. Why should we take a chance on you?
I've been an SDR for a while and I've learned a lot about the sales process. I work really closely with the AEs on my team so I understand what the role involves. I'm a fast learner and I'm really motivated to make this transition. I think I'm ready.

Everyone says they're a fast learner. Can you give me a specific example like something concrete you've done that's actually closer to an AE's job than a typical SDR?
Yeah, so there were a few times where I sat in on discovery calls with the AE and kind of helped out. And when one of the AEs was out sick I helped cover some of his accounts for a bit. I also did a lot of research on prospects before handing them off so the AEs had more context going in. I think that gave me a pretty good sense of what the full cycle looks like.

Every word you used is something a hiring manager has heard from every candidate that day, and none of it gives them anything to hold onto. The core issue is that you're making a claim without providing any evidence, which in a sales interview is especially damaging because selling is fundamentally about backing up what you say. Instead, you can say something like: ”For the past year I've been sitting in on discovery calls, helping re-qualify deals that stalled, and I covered a full pipeline for six weeks when our AE went on leave, two of those deals closed while I was running them.”

What You'll Improve

hero

Handling Tough Pushback

Practice responding to "you don't have enough experience" and "why should we take a chance on you" until you have a calm, specific answer ready instead of going blank.

Talking About Your Numbers

Learn to talk about your quota, deal size, and win rate out loud so your numbers come out clearly when the interviewer asks β€” not halfway through a fumbled sentence.

Answering Experience Questions

Practice turning real experiences into structured answers so when you're asked "tell me about a deal you worked on," you know exactly what to say and in what order.

Walking Through Your Deals

Learn to walk through your deals in a way that makes it clear what you actually did so the interviewer sees someone who owned the process, not just someone who was part of the team.

I was transitioning from SDR and every interviewer asked 'but have you run a full cycle?' After practicing here I had a structured answer with real numbers. Got the offer in week three.

The discovery roleplay feels uncomfortably real. The AI buyer pushes back exactly like a skeptical VP would. My team now uses this tool before every interview loop.

I practiced the MEDDIC walkthrough about 12 times. By the actual interview it came out clean and natural. The hiring manager said it was the most articulate methodology answer he'd heard.
